Who we are
We're Sunsoil Foods — an agro manufacturing and processing house from Mumbai that's been in this trade for fifteen years. Peanuts, gram, maize, makhana, namkeen: this is what we know, and honestly, it's all we do.
Our buying teams pick up produce from farmers across the country, and everything runs through our own factory in Vasai. Nothing leaves without a batch check — that's a rule we've never bent. Beyond manufacturing and processing, we also help businesses with agro sourcing and trading: if you need a commodity procured at origin, graded to your spec and delivered on schedule, that's a call we handle every day.
Our commodities
Ask anyone who's been in this line long enough — the variety you start with decides half the result. After fifteen years of buying, grading and roasting, here's how we'd match each crop to the job.
In India, peanuts are classified into three commercial types for trade and export — Bold/Runner, Java/Spanish and Red Natal — with many named varieties under each. We process all three.
Oblong, larger kernels with reddish-brown skin, traded in counts like 38/42, 40/50, 50/60 and 60/70 per ounce. Good size and high oil content make them the choice for roasting, salted snacks, peanut butter and oil extraction.
Smaller, rounder kernels with pinkish-white skin, in grades from 50/60 up to 140/160 counts. The favourite for hand-to-mouth snacks, coated peanuts and confectionery — and high oil recovery makes them ideal for premium oil and peanut butter too.
Medium red-skin kernels, typically 60/70–80/90 counts. Chosen where buyers want the red-skin look for namkeen, sweets and snack mixes, with ~50% fat content for oil as a secondary use.
Key Indian varieties we work with — bred for yield, oil content and disease resistance:
GG-20 (G20), GG-21, GJG-31, GJG-32 — Gujarat-bred lines known for bold seeds, oil content around 51–54% and disease tolerance.
Girnar-1 to Girnar-4 — the newer Girnar-4 offers high-oleic oil (~78.5% oleic acid) with ~53% total oil.
Kadiri-2, 3, 6, 8, 9 — widely grown lines yielding ~17–25 quintals/ha with oil around 43–45%.
TAG-24 is early maturing with a high harvest index; TG-37A is tolerant to collar rot and rust. Both feed heavily into snack and oil channels.
Chana is one of India's core pulse crops — contributing roughly a third of the country's pulse area and around half of pulse production. We source and process high-quality chana across both commercial types: traditional desi and premium kabuli, plus modern improved varieties.
Small, dark, rough-coated grains with rich flavour — the backbone of India's besan, sattu and chana dal industry, covering nearly 85% of India's chickpea area. Thicker hulls give roasted chana its familiar crunch and traditional taste.
The finest gram among all varieties — noticeably better taste than regular desi chana and far more uniform in size and colour. The first choice for premium roasted chana and sattu, where taste and even roasting decide everything.
Bigger, smooth, cream-coloured attractive grains with higher dal recovery and less chaff. Preferred whole for chole, hummus, salads and premium export packs — also suitable for value-added flours.
Modern desi lines (JG 11, JG 16, Digvijay, Vijay, Vishal, GNG 1958, RVG series) and kabuli lines (HK 2, PKV 4, JGK 3 and more) bred for higher yield, disease resistance and superior dal & flour recovery — ideal for large-scale besan and sattu manufacturing.
From grain to product: our chana is cleaned, graded and milled — coarse milling gives chana dal, fine milling gives besan, and roasting plus grinding produces sattu for drinks, laddoos and nutrition blends.
We handle food-grade and feed-grade maize, cleaned and graded for millers, feed manufacturers and snack producers.
High energy content — the preferred choice for poultry & cattle feed and starch milling.
Milled into grits, flour and semolina for human consumption.
High-expansion kernels for the snacking industry.
Yellow maize delivers the energy density feed millers want; white maize mills into grits, semolina (rava) and flour for the food industry; popcorn varieties are selected for expansion ratio and popping consistency.
All maize is de-stoned, de-dusted and graded for uniform kernel size and moisture before it leaves Vasai.
Makhana — cleaned, graded and sized in-house, hand picked for all grades. A superfood in rising demand for its light, crunchy profile and high nutrition. We supply every suta grade:
Compact kernels — ideal for flavoured snack mixes, powders and kheer.
The everyday workhorse grade for retail packs and bulk snacking.
Big, white, uniform pops — preferred for premium roasted makhana brands.
The largest, most sought-after pops — top of the market, hand picked for size, whiteness and crunch.
Suta is the traditional size grade of makhana — the higher the suta, the bigger the pop. 3–4 suta suit mixes and powders; 5–6 suta are the large, white, uniform pops premium roasted brands demand.
Our makhana is hand picked across all grades for whiteness, roundness and crunch — then cleaned and sized in-house before packing.
Our value-added range is built on our own peanuts and gram: roasted, salted, coated and spiced Indian namkeen — manufactured at Vasai to the same standards as every commodity we process.
From the farm
Our buyers sit in the mandis and work directly with growers across India's peanut, gram and maize belts — season after season, often with the same families.
Because we buy at origin, we know exactly whose field a lot came from and what was paid for it. And it's not only for our own manufacturing and processing — we source and trade commodities for other businesses too. Tell us the grade, the quantity and the delivery window, and we'll get it done.
Our promise
Food-safe handling and defined process standards from intake to dispatch at Vasai.
Every batch is physically checked for moisture, foreign matter and grade compliance.
Farm-level procurement across India means we know every lot's origin.
